It has been a joy for our family to serve in Mozambique. We can never thank you enough for helping to make it possible. We returned safely to the States on June 11 and have been working on settling in Lafayette, Indiana. As we work on adjusting back to the culture in America, we’ve noticed a lot of changes.

Many people have asked us about our best experience during our time in Mozambique. We thought it would be easy to respond to that question. The obvious answer was serving the people of Mozambique. As we’ve begun to reflect on our time there we’ve quickly realized that it’s much more. Many great experiences come to mind. We learned that God is able to equip us to do the things that we never thought were possible. Pouring our lives into Mozambicans was certainly a highlight of our time in Mozambique.

We expected that we would be helping and guiding Mozambicans, but never thought it would be a two-way street. Not only did we invest in their lives, but also they invested in ours. We have learned so much about what it means to really love and serve people. We did not expect to receive, but to give. What a wonderful gift! We had both great ministry and family experiences while in Mozambique. Our family has grown closer to one another and shared experiences that we will never forget. Seeing Chelsea and Jessica adjust to living in a foreign country and making friends from all over the world has been amazing. We know that they will not forget their experiences in Mozambique.

June completes our two-year term in Mozambique and our service commitment with OMS International. So what’s next for our family? In August Chelsea will start attending a community college in Lafayette. She is interested in history and journalism. We are visiting schools and will enroll Jessica soon, so she can complete her last three years of high school. We are looking for jobs in the Lafayette area. We would appreciate your prayers for our family and our transition.

If you are interested in continuing to support the work of OMS International in Africa, please consider the following projects in Africa as possibilities:

  • Bruce Bennett (Dept. 210 Project No. 803664)
Bruce serves in South Africa and is the Africa Regional Director.
  • Larry and Susan Weil (Missionary No. 802152)
    The Weils serve in Mozambique.
  • Nathan and Deanna Glancy (Missionary No. 802279)
    The Glancys serve in Mozambique.
  • David and Ann Dedrick (Missionary No. 802334)
    The Dedricks serve in Mozambique.
  • Christian Micro-Enterprise Development in Mozambique (Project No. 302120)
This project provides discipleship in the financial area of peoples lives.
  • Bibles for Into Africa (Dept. 210 Project No. 404550)
This project is specifically for the distribution of Bibles to churches in Africa. The prices range from $4 to $10 per Bible. There are about 1,450 churches with around 60,000 members.
  • IAC Literature (Dept. 210 Project No. 404560)
The purpose of this project is to purchase, translate and distribute literature for pastor training programs.
More information is available for the above projects and missionaries at www.omsinternational.org. We haven’t come up with one best experience. All our experiences could be summed up as growing in love.

Our team in Mozambique has shown us support, love, and patience. We are so thankful for them being part of our family. We also want to thank you. Thank you for your prayers, support, and encouragement. Words could not express our gratitude.

With Love,

Glenn, Kris, Chelsea, and Jessica

Safe Arrival

Last week we arrived safely back in the States. It was difficult to say goodbye to everyone in Mozambique. At the same time, it’s great to see familiar faces and enjoy the company of our friends and family. Our first weekend back Jessica and Chelsea went with their old youth group to Ichthus, a christian music festival in Kentucky. They had a great time visiting with old friends and enjoyed the festival.

We are now working on adjusting back to the culture and change in time. Please pray for God's provision and direction for each of us as we transition back across cultures. Thank you for your support and prayers through our journey in Mozambique. We'll be writing more in the next few weeks, but wanted to share this short update to let you know we arrived back in the States safely.
